FedBiz Find Provides Access to Award History and Targeted Points of Contact

Did you know the majority of federal contracts are repeat orders?  In fact, approximately 90% of service contracts expire within 2-3 years but are renewable.

Wouldn’t you like to know more about these expiring contracts and who to contact?  Who buys what you sell and how much they paid?

FedBiz Find provides you with the award history and specific agency and office, with contact emails and phone numbers, of who you should be targeting.

To find award information on your specific industry, enter your NAICS Code on the top of the dashboard.  First select the 2-digit Industry Sector, then 4-digit Industry Group, and then 6-digit Industry Classification (NAICS Code).

For example, in the NAICS code 541611 – Administrative Management and General Management Consulting Services there were 28,436 awards for $23.4 Billion over the prior twenty-four months.

By scrolling over and selecting the state or states that you do business in, you can view the awards and spending based on the geography that you have selected.

In the lower left corner of the dashboard, you can view the Top Prime Contractors or the Top Small Businesses that have won awards.

This will give you a good preview of potential subcontracting partners, as well as what type of business your competition is winning.

By clicking on the business name, you get complete contact information and details on the business, including their historical contracting track-record.

To the right on this table, click on the ‘Awards #’ to view details on the actual awards won by the business.

You will find the actual contract number and can sort by award dollars, date the contract was signed, PSC code, PSC code description, and subagency.

In addition, by clicking on the contract number you get the complete contract scope directly from fpds.gov with full contract details.

Now let’s find out who your buyers are!

In the lower, center field, you can find the top awarding agencies and their specific points of contact.

Click ‘View All Awards’ to find the awards issued by the top agencies based on your selected criteria.  You will find the actual contract number and can sort by award dollars, date the contract was signed, PSC code, PSC code description, and subagency.

Again, by clicking on the contract number you get the complete contract scope directly from fpds.gov with full contract details.

Click ‘Agency Contacts’ to get the contact information of the specific buyers, including Name, Title, Email Address, Phone Number, number of awards and award dollars.

Clicking on number of awards, you can get the specific Contract Number with complete contract scope directly from the Federal Procurement Data System with full contract details.

In addition, there is a link to the agency website to learn more about the agency’s programs, as well information on the right side of the dashboard to learn more about how awards were competed:

  • Contracts reserved for Small Businesses
  • Contracts awarded to out of state contractors
  • Contracts that received a Single Bid
  • Contracts not publicly posted

I'd like to welcome the President of FedBiz Access, Mike Toups, and he's here to share more about the proprietary research tool FedBiz Access has developed called FedBiz Find. That's F I N D.

Jesse Sherr  00:31

Mike, welcome to FedBiz'5.

Mike Toups  00:34

Thanks for having me on Jesse.

Jesse Sherr  00:35

Happy to have you finally. So Mike, what is FedBiz Find?

Mike Toups  00:41

Simply put Jessie, it's a tool to help small businesses find and win government awards. We've put over two years of development into making FedBiz Find an easy-to-use online resource for companies to do business with the federal government.

Mike Toups  00:56

You can find it at Find.FedBizConnect.com.

Jesse Sherr  01:00

Excellent. So could you tell me a little bit more about the genesis of FedBiz Find?

Mike Toups  01:05

Sure. Well, as you may know, the majority of federal contracts are repeat orders. In fact, approximately 90% of service contracts expire within two to three years, but they're renewable. FedBiz Find easily provides market research at your fingertips to know more about these expiring contracts and who to contact. In other words, who buys what you sell, and how much they paid for it.

Jesse Sherr  01:25

Okay, so what type of detailed information can you find on FedBiz Find?

Mike Toups  01:29

Well, we provide the specific government agency and office within the agency with contact emails and phone numbers of who you should be targeting. So, for example, did you know approximately 245,000 service contracts renew annually representing 145 billion, with a B, in contract awards?

Jesse Sherr  01:49

So how can someone use FedBiz Find to take advantage of these future opportunities?

Mike Toups  01:54

Well, the key in government contracting is to understand the past. To use the FedBiz Find dashboard, you began with three simple steps. You just enter your industry sector, group, and then classification, which is commonly referred to as your NAICS code. This is the industry code based on your primary business activity and something that is required in every SAM registration. In addition, you can also search by your Product Service Code.

Jesse Sherr  02:18

Okay, so can you give me an example?

Mike Toups  02:20

Well, let's use NAICS Code 541611, which is Administrative and General Management Consulting Services. On your FedBiz Find dashboard you'll find total federal awards and spending.

Mike Toups  02:32

So, when you enter that NAICS Code as your primary NAICS Code, it will show over 29,000 awards representing $23.5 billion in spending in fiscal years 2020 and 2021.

Mike Toups  02:44

Then, by scrolling over the map of the US, you can select the state(s) you do business in so you can review award spending by the geography that you select.

Jesse Sherr  02:52

Well, I've got to say that sounds pretty simple to me.

Mike Toups  02:54

Well, it gets even better. In addition, you can view the Top Prime Contractors and Top Small Businesses that have won awards based on the criteria you selected. This will give you complete contact information and award history details on potential subcontract and teaming partners, as well as what type of awards your competition is winning.

Jesse Sherr  03:12

Okay, so all of this is able to be accessed through Find.FedBizConnect.com. Correct?

Mike Toups  03:19

Yes. Now, let's use that information to find your buyers.

Mike Toups  03:23

Displayed on your dashboard are the Top Awarding Agencies with their specific points of contact based on your criteria selected, including the complete contract details. Now under Agency Contacts, you get the contact information of the specific buyer, including their name, title, email address, phone number, number of awards and award dollars that they've issued.

Jesse Sherr  03:45

Well, that sounds like a lot of amazing information. So, I got to ask, what's the cost to access this system? This type of information?

Mike Toups  03:54

Well, our monthly subscription is $89.99 a month regularly for the full suite of federal contracting information. But as a promotional offer for your listeners, we can have full access of all the capabilities in the system for them for only $39.99 a month by subscribing online at Find.FedBizConnect.com.

Mike Toups  04:13

In addition, they'll find links to Agency Websites as well as information on how these contracts were awarded. This detail includes how many contracts were reserved for small businesses, awarded to out of state competitors, contracts that received a single bid, and contracts are publicly posted. So this is not information that's easily found.

Mike Toups  04:32

You'll also have access to our Government Contracting Resource Page, which includes access to Agency Forecasts and Small Business Office Contacts, State and Local opportunities, as well as a suite of other resources, guides, and videos.

Jesse Sherr  04:44

Mike, I've got to say that sounds pretty impressive. To utilize that type of tool is probably key in today's market.

Jesse Sherr  04:52

I'm so glad you could share this with our audience, and it was great information.

Mike Toups  04:57

Well, our goal is to provide businesses a clear path from registration to award.

Mike Toups  05:01

All right Jesse, thanks for having me on.

Jesse Sherr  05:02

Thank you for coming on and giving this amazing offer as well to our listeners.

Mike Toups  05:08

Oh yeah, absolutely.

Jesse Sherr  05:08

And, I hope we get to hear from you again.

Mike Toups  05:11

All right. Sounds good, Jesse. Thanks a lot.

Jesse Sherr  05:12

Absolutely. Take care, bye-bye.
